Tools for Quality Practice:
A Resource Guide for Professional Learning

Kansas Learning First Alliance continues to pursue the goal of making Kansas first in the nation in teaching in learning.  To accomplish that goal, the Alliance is pursuing several tracks.  Improvements in mathematics and reading are under review by the Student Achievement subgroup of the Alliance.  The Professional Development subgroup is working to help schools and districts pursue best practice in professional learning.

In addition to these targeted areas for improvement, the Alliance has assembled information about whole school change and characteristics of organizations that successfully pursue improvement.  Community partnerships are also an essential element of schools that extend their improvement efforts outside the classroom to homes and families.  A resource to assist with compliance with the No Child Left Behind Act is provided in the document is also included as a final content section.

The Executive Summary provides an overview and introduction to the entire guide.  Click below to download a PDF version of this section of the document
