Community Engagement Workgroup

A major factor in student achievement is the involvement of the community and parents in support of school success.  KLFA helps to build community involvement in a variety of ways.

Video Messages supporting great public schools

KLFA and member organization Kansas NEA also partner to highlight the crucial role great public schools play in making Kansas communities great, strengthening the Kansas, economy, and serving Kansas students and families.  See these public service announcements at:  http://vimeo.com/kansasnea

Community Conversations

The "Community Conversations" program was developed by Public Agenda.  This major initiative of Public Agenda is a system to help engage the community in its schools, building the kind of involvement that supports increased student achievement.  Kansas Learning First Alliance has a cadre of trained facilitators that can assist a school community in putting Community Conversations to work as a part of the school improvement process.  Learn more at the following links:

Engaging the Public in Advocating for our Schools

The Kansas Learning First Alliance does not endorse any political candidates or delve into "party" or partisan debate. The organization does, however, strongly encourage the kind of public policies that will support making Kansas first in the nation in teaching and learning. Follow the links below to information about how the public can join KLFA in its work to make Kansas schools #1.
