to make a difference
a. Student Learning:

Taking a leadership role for 21st century skills,
encompassing college preparatory, career & technical, and life
skills/lifelong learning curricula.
·
Impacting the next iteration of standards and assessments at the
state level
· a
database of effective or exemplary practices to implement 21st
century teaching and learning
· Strategies
for sharing examples of 21st century teaching and
learning environments – presentations, workshops, etc.
b. Professional Development
· Identify
the key components of the 21st century learning
environment (aligned with KSDE resources)
·
Propose a blueprint for professional learning (pre-service,
in-service) to foster the practices that characterize a 21st
century learning environment
· Identify
and share examples of 21st century teaching and
learning environments
c. Community Engagement:
·
Producing a major discussion and informational resource to raise
awareness and interest in 21st century skills,
teaching, and learning.
·
Providing ancillary materials to support locally-initiated
conversations
· Marketing
the conversations, compiling and reporting the results of
conversations
d. Additional components of work to consider
· Developing
policy recommendations to influence change (including standards)
· Influencing
assessment practices to include 21st century skills and
to align with 21st century learning environments

roadmap for/vision for assessment in the 21st century

III. What are the deliverables? Work time for subgroups to
review their past work and identify what they might hope to
produce in the coming year. Is this it:
· Professional
Development: Building professional development that a)
fosters 21st century teaching practices, b) models
adult learning for 21st century, and c) facilitates
learning and assessing 21st century skills
integrated with rigorous content
· Student
Achievement: Creating and sharing the vision for 21st
century teaching and learning by identifying exemplary or
effective practices. (what would the role of KSDE be in this
work?)
· Community
Engagement: Promoting in plain English, how would we describe
our vision to parents, community, business? What is the
natural next step after folks have had a conversation about
the learning needs of students in the 21st
century? Urgency? Overcoming objections?
