(Workgroup Team Leaders meet beginning at 8:45 to plan workgroup time)             Officers/work group chairs for 2006-07– Professional Development: Sue Kidd and Sheryl Mathis ,  Public Engagement: Kathy Jones and Nancy Kraft, Student Achievement: Margie Hill and Deb Larson

Sheryl Mathis will take minutes for the day and collect lunch money $8 (lunch from Puffy’s)

9:00-9:20  Introductions,  Indicate who is attending LFA from your organization, and Announcements – Sandee Crowther 

9:20-9:25 Consideration of KS Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services joining the KLFA.

Any other interested associations who wish to become a part of the group should submit a letter including the commitment form to Sandee Crowther.  

9:25-10:00 Discussion re: our KPIRC involvement – Nancy Kraft summarize expectations and    facilitate discussion

10:00-11:00  Follow-up discussion re: indicators of our mission – Marceta Reilly

Our goal is to make Kansas first in the nation in teaching and learning.  There are 7 indicators that have emerged from our conversations (provided at meeting).   Do these seem reasonable and logical?   Are there any critical elements missing?  How might we measure?  How once defined might these benefit our individual organizations?

 11:15-1:30  Work groups and lunch – each group needs to have an electronic report to give to Sheryl –

KLFA Meetings: 2006-07    Wednesdays 3/14 and 5/30

LFA Summit  - March 9-11 Washington, D.C., The affiliate/state meeting – dinner March 8 and meeting morning of March 9th

Approved Meeting Dates for 2007-08: 8/24 (F), 10/12 (F), 1/15 (T), 3/12 (W), 5/28 (W)

Systems Approach – NCTAF (National Commission on Teaching for America’s Future) presentation related to Teacher Quality, Retention, and Recruitment for March 14 followed by an there will also be an update on 21st Century Skills

In order to meet our mission of “Making Kansas first in the nation in teaching and learning” the KLFA general KLFA goals for 2006-07 are: 

  1. KLFA will broadly disseminate our work to influence practitioners.
  2. KLFA will increase visibility with policy makers.

KLFA will strengthen and increase its organizational capacity.
