News and Notes:  Agenda
March 30, 2004

Location: KASB Building, 1420 SW Arrowhead Road (Two blocks east of Wanamaker on Huntoon, then south.)

Time: 9:00-2:00 (Workgroup Team Leaders meet beginning at 8:45 to plan workgroup time)

9:00 Welcome, Introductions and Announcements
Tom will welcome everyone, ask for introductions and make necessary announcements. (And boy, there are plenty!)

9:30 Workgroups Meet Through Lunch (Be prepared to pay $6 for lunch)
Student Achievement: Deb Larson & Margie Hill, Team Leaders
Professional Development: Lisa Brookover & Sue Kidd, Team Leaders
Public Engagement: Katherine Weickert & Christy Levings, Team Leaders

The focus of this meeting is for each workgroup to create a PowerPoint, which will allow workgroups to bring clarity and direction to their efforts and allow those in other workgroups to have a concrete document to use as they discuss KLFA work with others. Each workgroup will be provided a work area where you’ll have access to a computer, a projector and the Net. Make sure your presentation includes your goals and where you are in the process. (If there are documents, etc. you think important for colleagues to have prior to the meeting, please start sharing them.) Begin thinking about workgroup goals for next year. Do we think the goals are keeping us focused?

Also, please visit the Washington Learning First Web site (http://www.sbe.wa.gov/WSLF/wslfa.htm) to see if we can glean ideas for improvement. Our process to make updates probably also warrants more discussion.

You’ll have access to the revised PowerPoint on Community Conversations, which I’ve also attached. Please offer appropriate suggestions/revisions.

1:00 Reports From Workgroups: Each workgroup will have 15-20 minutes to report
Your PowerPoint will give you a chance to really show off your efforts (and if it’s really good, inspire others to new heights), so be prepared to make it a great presentation!

1:50 Closing Comments and Remarks

2:00 Adjourn
As usual, Tom promises to have us end on time!
